2.85 lakh students will take up MHT-CET

2.85 lakh students will take up MHT-CET

These English medium students, set to appear for the Maharashtra common entrance test for admission to health science, engineering and pharmacy degree courses (MHT-CET) on Thursday, recently received hall tickets mentioning their chosen medium as Marathi. It meant they would get the CET question papers in Marathi. Thankfully, the conductors of the MHT-CET acted promptly when they came to know about this. The matter has been resolved with a decision taken that every exam centre will be provided with extra sets of question papers in English.
The CET officials said the affected students had selected the wrong options while filling up examination forms. An official from the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), which conducts the exam jointly with the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), said, “Several students make mistakes while filling up forms. Those errors are carried forward in their hall tickets.”
It has been decided to give extra sets of question papers in English to every centre to avoid chaos. It was not possible to make changes in the hall tickets at the last moment, but students will be given English question papers on demand. They will have to reach the centre much before time and speak to the centre in-charge. No student will be denied question papers.

Around 2.85 lakh students in Maharashtra are gearing up for Thursday’s MHT-CET — the last competitive examination of the season. This will clinch them seats in the state’s premier colleges.
The number of engineering aspirants is far more than those vying for seats in medical colleges. Of the 2.85 lakh students, around 1.06 lakh will take the engineering test only. The count of medical and pharmacy aspirants stands at 33,663. The remaining 1.46 lakh students will take exams for both the streams. It seems majority of the students are opting for engineering as it makes it easier for them to pursue management studies or go abroad.
