No Work experience: Is MBA in USA right for you?

USA is considered as the land of dream fulfillment, of cutting edge quality, of mega bucks and of life as you want it to be. Whatever you have heard about the U.S., it's true. And getting an education there is probably the dream of every Indian student.
USA has the world Top B-Schools such as Harvard Business School, Stanford, Kellogg, Wharton, Fuqua and many more with a wide range of options from Accounting till Supply Chain and Management.

If you don’t have work experience please do not apply to USA as what you gain from it will be very little.
Most of the students apply for the course just because his or her friend is pursuing the same, and may be you both got the equal score in GMAT or GRE. This is the most ridiculous things to do; in fact I would request you not to play with your career. Start taking control of your life; your parents have done their bit. So, if you don’t have work experience, apply for Master of Science or MIS programs. After couple of years of work experience, you can study MBA part time or as full time.

Now in such as situation, you have to be a little introspective and do some self – analysis here. The two most prominent career paths that are available to you are – The technical career path where you will work as a Software Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, Designer, Architect and so on, while the other one is of managing other people. This shall involve, managing team, doing appraisals, give pay raise and if required fire people. If the second paths interest you apply for MBA, if the first one looks more lucrative than apply for MS.
Apart from your work experience universities look out for a leadership potential and a capacity to thrive in a rigorous academic environment. Education in USA is fast-paced, very demanding and highly verbal. Also, be aware of the fact that presentations and seminars conducted by the foreign universities are purely marketing exercises, and would reveal only the rosy picture about the universities.
