XAT 2019

XAT 2018 is an ONLINE MBA entrance exam which can be split into three parts: concept driven, practice intensive and environment sensitive. Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and a few areas of Verbal & Logical Ability are concept driven; Decision Making & Analytical Reasoning is practice intensive section while General Knowledge is environment sensitive. Quick reading and comprehension skills need to be developed.
If you have appeared or prepared for other management entrance tests like CAT, IIFT, SNAP, and performed as per your expectations, you can consider half of your XAT preparations to be complete. However, there are exclusive sections to XAT and those sections make this exam even more challenging.
1. Brush up basics: The key is to focus on sharpening the basis of each section. Having your basics clear would be the key to solve any type of questions, be it easy and direct or complex and sitter based. Brush up on your grammar skills and be a grammar Nazi! Keep practicing the basics of mathematics and solving problems daily.
2. Focus on Exclusive Areas:
a) General Awareness: Get yourself updated with both current and static GK. Preparing current events for the past six months is essential. This section has no negative marking and is evaluated at the time of interview. Make sure you don’t spend more than 15 minutes.
b) Essay Writing: Read newspapers like The Hindu to become comfortable with a gamut of topics which could come for the XAT essay writing section. Always write sample essays and get them assessed on content and style to know your stand in essay writing. Don’t spend more than 20 mins on this section.
c) Decision Making: Identify the constraints and objectives to be met. Look for an option that compromises on none.
3. Mock Tests and previous years’ papers: Concept strengthening should be followed by consolidation of application orientation and thereafter by an adequate number of practice tests.
4. Negative Marking: Do not attempt many questions on guesswork and if you are in a dire situation and desperately need to its then advisable to apply the process of elimination (PoE) to eliminate the less probable choices to zero-in on the correct one. 0.25 for any wrong answer and 0.05 for more than 13 unattempted questions
The level of difficulty is high, read the questions carefully. Time management is an asset.
Time Management Section Wise
VALR: Attempt 18-20 questions in about 40 mins
QADI: Attempt 15-18 questions in about 50 mins
DM: Attempt 12-15 questions in about 60 mins
One can keep a buffer of 20 mins to attempt 3-4 questions from any section to increase percentile.
All the sections need equal importance as fetching maximum marks is the most important task and a gateway to move ahead. Clearing Sectional cut-off is mandatory.

SNAP 2019

SNAP 2019 Eligibility Criteria comprise two major Eligibility requirements – the first one is the eligibility criteria to appear in SNAP 2019 exam on December 16, 2019 and the other one is the individual eligibility criteria for admission to 15 Symbiosis Institutes. Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune has announced the SNAP 2019 Eligibility Criteria and the eligibility criteria to apply for admission in each of the 15 Symbiosis Institutes.

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) is the MBA entrance test for admission to 15 Symbiosis institutes across India. The institutes award MBA degree of Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune.

SIU Pune determines the SNAP Exam Eligibility before SNAP exam every year. Apart from the ensuring their SNAP 2019 Eligibility, the candidates appearing in SNAP exam also have to check the Institute Level Eligibility Criteria which can be different from the SNAP Exam Eligibility 2019.

For personalised coaching for GD/PI/GE/WAT , contact Vivek Gupta, IIMB Alumni

Two levels of SNAP Eligibility Criteria:
The guidelines issued by SIU Pune in regard to SNAP Exam Eligibility 2019 are:
·        Eligibility criteria for SNAP Exam: A graduate from any recognized / statutory University with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) can apply and appear in the SNAP exam.
·        Eligibility Criteria for Symbiosis Institutes: Programmes which require specific discipline/ subject specialisation offered by different Symbiosis Institutes like SSSS, Pune; SIHS Pune; SCIT Pune; SITM Pune; SCMHRD Pune; SIOM Nashik have their own eligibility criteria which should be checked on the Institute website. You should be an engineering graduate for admission to MBA Infrastructure Management at SCMHRD or to MBA Operations Management at SIOM Nashik. You must have studied Mathematics in class 12 to become eligible for MBA at SCIT and so on.
·        Eligibility for Foreign University Students: SNAP 2019 exam eligibility for a candidate who has completed qualifying degree from any Foreign University is that he/she must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). All foreign degrees/ qualifications need to be verified from AIU by the candidate before seeking admission to any programme of SIU. After the Evaluation Division of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) issues equivalence certificate for foreign degrees/qualifications, the candidate will have SNAP exam eligibility and admission eligibility to the respective Symbiosis MBA programme.
Check Eligibility before Applying:
If you are not eligible to apply to the MBA programme of your preferred Symbiosis institute, your SNAP application and exam fee will not be refunded by the Test conducting authority. Exam Pattern Studying
One of the biggest tricks to cracking the exam lies in your ability to look at the previous year's tests to discern the patterns you see and then prepare for the test accordingly. It is mostly so that this year's test questions would be based upon the previous year's test questions. As a result, it makes for a wise move to study the previous years' test questions in order to prepare for the upcoming year's test accordingly.
Negative Marking Avoidance
The SNAP test includes negative marking for any questions answered wrongly. As a result, it isn't too much of a smart move to attempt answering questions that you're not too sure of in the first place to begin with. I would recommend that you stay away from questions that seem too difficult or beyond your league, as you stand to score a lot on the test if you opted for solving questions where you truly knew what you were doing.
Time Management
A key trick to making the most of your time and achieving results is to manage your time well to begin with. Students who are good at managing time are often able to go a long way in getting more studies done in a comparatively lesser time. I would highly recommend that you manage your daily chores and other tasks in such a way that you get more studies done in a lesser duration of time. This would take you far ahead not just in the test, but in life as well.
Check Your Strengths First
If you're good at a subject, focus all of your efforts on it and try to get the most marks in that subject. If you're bad at a subject, leave that subject for laters. Focusing on the subject(s) you're good at gives you the opportunity to score the highest marks in those subject(s), thus increasing your overall SNAP test score. The same, unfortunately, cannot be said for the subjects that you're not too good at. Thus, this is a fantastic scoring strategy for all students looking to give the SNAP test.
