FULL TIME VS PART TIME /ONLINE MBA?
Online MBA courses are now a days in trend , people want to improve their skills in order to survive in the market and the best way of it is to pursue MBA course and if this opportunity is online, then it is considered a golden opportunity.
The IITs are also providing this course , now it is not limited only IIMs , XLRI Jamshedpur.
In present , MBA can also be done in part time or online but the question arises “Is online MBA really a good choice ?”
Although , it might be a good option for those who are doing some sort of job and want to pursue MBA side by side but the hard core reality is that full time MBA is the best option as the environment provided during full time MBA is nice , people actually get practical knowledge ,this knowledge is not book or theory oriented but practical knowledge.
Prof Jeevan J Arakal from TA Pai Management Institute said , that online MBA is an excellent opportunity for all those dreaming successful corporate careers and that too without wasting much time like in full time MBA . He also added that one should never judge a course by fees , if someone is getting MBA online course at lower fees , there might be some reason behind it . In low fees may be the quality of education given get compromised .
Himanshu Rai, director of Indian Institute of Management, Indore, recommends the candidates to pursue full time MBA instead of part time , but he also mentioned that online MBA should be done if candidates cannot afford to give time for the full time course or is already doing some job and do not get time for other things.
In full time MBA program , the institutes arrange various activities and placement drives for the candidates , and ensure that each candidates get equal opportunity for the placement . Through the best MBA colleges of India the placement guarantee is almost 100 percent. In the part time /online MBA these kind of program may or may not take place and even if these program are conducted they are very few in numbers.
Rai , stated that taking the syllabus as a topic of comparison between full time and part time/ offline MBA , the syllabus is covered in both the ways be it online or offline , none of the concepts are missed out but it is only about the practical knowledge that full time MBA provide.
When it comes to online MBA one may not find it easy to get his/her doubt cleared whereas in offline MBA candidates can stick to their point unless and until their doubt is resolved although candidates can take help of videos or simulations to understand and clear their doubt but every time doing this is not at all feasible .
Another very important experience that a person gets is internship experience , which teach candidates how to work on the actual field or the company where they wish to be work at whereas this opportunity are not provided by the online MBA courses.
Professor Rai also said that when recruiter companies have option to choose between candidates who have done MBA course online or offline , they definitely go for the candidates who completed full time offline MBA not the one who did online MBA.
When it comes to classroom study 3 very important factors are knowledge, skills and attitude. Although knowledge and skills can be grasped but attitude can be developed by interaction with the peer groups and talking with the industrial people which is only provided by the offline MBA course.
