MBBS Seats in Andhra Pradesh
Minister Vidadala Rajani, Minister for Health, Medical and Family
Welfare, has announced that five new medical colleges would start in the
upcoming academic year of 2023-24. The National Medical Council (NMC) team has
inspected four of these medical colleges and expressed their satisfaction with
the facilities and standards. This will increase the total seat count to 2,935,
providing opportunities for local students to pursue MBBS.
The five medical colleges are set to be inaugurated in August. After the
inauguration, classes for the new medical colleges will be starting in
September. It will mark a significant development in the state's healthcare
infrastructure and offer opportunities to students.
Establishing five medical colleges in five years is a very rare
achievement. This reflects the state's commitment to enhancing medical
education and healthcare services. The New medical colleges will be located in
various cities, including Vizianagaram, Eluru, Nandyala, Machilipatam, and
Rajamahendravaram. Colleges in different locations will ensure better access to
quality medical education in Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has successfully initiated the
construction of 17 more medical colleges within the timespan of four years.
This step will reflect the state's commendable efforts towards providing
quality education to students. In addition to the five new colleges, the state
government is planning to establish 12 more medical colleges in the upcoming
years, demonstrating a long-term vision for further development of healthcare
education in Andhra Pradesh.
Additionally, there has been a significant increase in the availability
of post-graduate seats from 926 to 1,388. This expansion provides more
opportunities for medical graduates to pursue specialized fields and contribute
to the healthcare sector's growth.
