Inspiring tales of some bright IAS aspirants.

Inspiring tales of some bright IAS aspirants.

Every year , lakhs of aspirants give their attempt for an IAS exam. But among the lakhs of people only few become IAS officers. What makes them choosed? What makes them excel in such a tough exam?

Here are some inspiring stories of successful IAS students. These stories will motivate you and inspire you to stay focused towards your goals.

Srushti Jayant Deshmukh, at the age of 23-year secured the fifth rank in the 2018 UPSC IAS exam.

Kanishak Kataria

Kanishak , an IIM alumnus bagged AIR 1 in UPSC 2018  in his very first attempt.

Kanishak, just to become an IAS officer and serve his country, left his  job abroad where he was earning almost one crore as salary. He achieved the rank -1 by sheer hard work.

He studied for 14 hours per day and maintained distance from social media. He studied and coached at Delhi with full focus and self studied.

Saumya Sharma

Saumya Sharma cracked the IAS exam in her first attempt  and achieved the 9th rank in 2017.  Santa's story is truly inspiring. Saumya is a lawyer by training with a disability-hearing impairment from her school days. She says self belief is the most important step in achieving success. She never went for offline coaching sessions, rather she used online lectures and video for clearing her doubts . Saamya cracked the exam with just four months of preparation

Govind Jaiswal

Govind secured 48th rank in UPSC 2006. Govind is a rickshaw puller's son who made his dad proud by his victory and achievement. Govind went through cruel poverty and bad days. People used to taunt him for some condition and his father's work. Govind struggled really hard for preparation; he even skipped his meals to save money. He prepared in the right direction. He never lost his focus. In his very first attempt he got his 48th position in the exam. He was always determined and focused towards his goal.

NL Beno Zephine

This Chennai girl at the age of 25 years became the first 100% blind candidate to appear for an IAS examination and enter into the Indian Foreign Services(IFS).

She gives the credit of her success to her parents, teachers and trainers for giving her a tremendous amount of support. She uses Job Access With Speech (JAWS) software to read visually impaired people using a computer screen. She secured AIR 343 in IAS entrance, 2005.

Ajit Kumar Yadav

Ajit, in his childhood lost his eyesight in childhood itself. Even though he has cleared the UPSC exam in 2008 and secured AIR 208 in IAS entrance. Even all being eligible he was not offered an IAS post rather he asked to join an OST in Indian  Railway Personnel Service.

After using the National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled and politician Brinda Karat he was officially appointed as an IAS officer.

At his time technology was developed ,so in this tech era Ajit is truly an inspiration.

Pranjal Patil

Pranjal at age of 26 has cleared IAS exam this year .He bagged an all-India rank of 773.Pranjali lost her eyesight at the age of 6 due to a childhood incident. But the incidents didn't break her . She was always focused and determined. She was always a topper. She interacted with an IAS bug during her graduation. She completed her M.Phil. Pranjali also used Job Access With Speech (JAWS)software to read the computer screen.

Lakhs of students appear every year for the exam but few of them get selected.

The only thing that is required is complete preparation strategy, determination and focus.

Things to be kept in mind while preparing for clearing the UPSC entrance examination-

     Planned approach

     Coaching

     Right Study Material

     IAS Test Series

     Revision

     Optional Subject

Planned Approach-

A goal without proper planning remains a mere dream. This is also true in the case of civil services. Before starting preparation you should go through the Syllabus of both prelims and mains exam. Every student has their own approach to preparing but only the most effective plan will help an aspirant sail through the exam. The exam is conducted in 3 phases in a 12 month tenure. So a complete strategy will definitely help you.

Coaching-

Coaching institutes help in preparing for the exam in a focussed and strategize manner. The selection of right coaching is must for the excellent preparation. If classroom IAS coaching is focused, according to the latest requirements of the UPSC, this approach can quickly place aspirants on the right path.

Also one can study and prepare for upsc exams at home with some help from online coaching and books.

Right Study Material-

It is very important to know the syllabus of the exam precisely. Preparation is always based on the syllabus so know the syllabus first. Paste it in front of your study table. Mark your strong and weak points. Always trust your teachers and mentors rather than on searching by your own. Studying from the wrong syllabus and preferring the wrong study material would prove a disaster for you. Always prefer the stand sources for all the topics.

IAS Test Series-

Clearing exams of CA & CS is not an easy task and not everyone's cup of tea. It requires comprehensive preparation right from conceptual basis. And attempting the test series will give you practice, confidence and self analysis of yourself. Several IAS institutions conduct monthly test series which can benefit you in  your preparation along with providing you the stature where you stand in the exam.

 Revision-

Revision is considered a must do for an exam .

Even though exams seem like a few months away, the earlier you start your revision, the more prepared you will be.i personally suggest that you can even put these posters up on your bedroom wall so they become a part of everyday life and get absorbed more deeply.

There’s a whole load of practice papers available online to download and use, or teachers can provide tests from previous years. Our top tip is to make sure they’re completed under timed conditions.

Optional Subject-

Precisely select the optional subject. Because 2optional subjects contain 500 marks in the sum total. The optional subjects  should not contain extensive syllabus.

The IAS exam is cleared by  many  irrespective of backgrounds – engineers, government servants, doctors, teachers, students, science graduates, humanities graduates, etc so optional subjects should be chosen according to the related field or area of interest.

Some of the best value offering online MBA Programs.

Some of the best value offering online MBA Programs.

An online Master of Business Administration degree is a captivating option for job-holding students who are dealing with family, career and other responsibilities. An online MBA offers the students to complete their masters from the comfort of their home. Online programs save your travelling time and other stress due to day to day hectic work. Along with these benefits,an online MBA program costs much cheaper.

If someone is pursuing a part time MBA from Chicago and residing in Kentucky,he eventually needs to travel every week from Kentucky to Chicago. Either they need to shift nearby Chicago to avoid hectic travel. This will charge an extra cost. Online MBA programs facilitate your studies as they are less cheap, suggests Edinburgh.  Pursuing an online MBA program cuts off all this stress.

Although some online programs are expensive too.Carnegie Mellon University, runs the online MBA programs and charges around  $140,000.

But the program worth paying the amount because of is ranked No. 3 by Fortune. In Fortune  rank list of the best online MBA programs, there are many others too which are pocket friendly too. You just need to find your own satisfying option among them.

Indiana University—Bloomington:

In  Fortune's rank list  the MBA program offered by The Kelley School of Business at Indiana University—Bloomington ranks No. 2. In the history of the University several students from 29 non- U.S. countries have pursued their MBA degree, thus providing it a significant international element. 90% of the students are not residents of Kelly and pursue their degree in distance learning mode.

The University provides seven different major choices and their half of the classes are optional(elective). All the alumni achieved success ,around 64% had their promotions and earned an average salary of $122,000 upon graduation.

Tution fee charged for a two year online program is more than $70,00, which is a comparatively affordable option as compared to the full time MBA programs offered by top ranked universities.

University of Florida:

The University of Florida charges $60,000 for an online MBA course. The University offers a two year online program or one year accelerated  program. It provides limited seats for only 65 students to maintain perfect student-teacher interactions. University of Florida ranks No- 5 in Fortune's rank list.

The tuition fee costs only $59,808. They also encourage students to use resources that include the University of Florida MBA Association and Networking Nights to conjoin with alumni.

University of Arizona:

The Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona ranks 16th in Fortune's rank list.It is a somewhat cheaper choice for an online MBA program. It charges $51,525 for the two year scheduled program. The University offers the choice from six areas of concentration. Also the University provides flexible study hours. The tenure for degree completion ranges from 14 months to 30 months. They also provide 6 different commencement date options each year, from which one can choose their desired one. Throughout the world ,the University has 3,600 MBA alums.

University of Pittsburgh:

The Katz School at the University of Pittsburgh offers a unique online MBA program which allows the students to get an on campus experience for a few classes along with the online lectures. The MBA program affected by University of Pittsburgh ranks No.7 by Fortune.

The tuition fee for the two year tenure costs- $35,190, which is half of the fee charged for other programs. They offer elective selection of courses that match with their career zest.

Along with these, they provide an option to get hands-on experience in one of nine different areas of business by completing a Katz Credential.

University of Massachusetts—Lowell:

The MBA program offered by University of Massachusetts-Lowell ranks No. 18 by Fortune's rank list. Candidates can complete their MBA in 12 months just by paying $19,650. One can complete their MBA by choosing a usual program with border electives or even the customized one of nine business concentrations. According to a statement released by their official website, their students can earn an average salary of $83,000.

Other factors rather than cost which should be kept in consideration:

Not only the ranking of the MBA program and it's cost matters but there are other factors too.

In Edinburgh's view, ranking is not that mandatory for an MBA program. Also choosing  a program which costs more but provides better placement opportunities is worth opting for than the cheaper one.

He suggested the students monitor the achievements of passed out students of the University they are planning to join. Availability of resources in an online class must be kept in check like mentorship, resume, and interview clinics.

He adds, after the completion of your MBA programs the thing that matters is how you are ending up after the completion i.e. their placements.

How life gets being a CA student?

How life gets being a CA student?

Life of CA students is a bit different from others. They are always energetic and ready to work. It is usually observed that these students have no social life. But their dedication pays them off.

It can be attempted by students who have completed 12th standard, graduates and professionals. The syllabus and examination are modeled in a way that even students can crack them. But, still, it is considered as one of the hardest tests to crack in India

To rank in the CA Foundation exam candidates should plan to study for at least 10 to 15 hours per day. Try to revise theory subjects on a daily basis, and prepare short notes for every topic.

For these reasons CA students are found to be quite hectic. They go through facing several difficulties and challenges as compared to others. Getting up early in the morning to study and still doing their respective office works in a mannerly way is really praiseworthy.

But it's a true saying that, "Today's tears water tomorrow's gardens". The hard work and the sacrifices you give today will help you in return.

Nobody becomes successful without doing hardwork.

Eventually the CA students takes much time as comparison to other conventional courses. Students pursuing or preparing for the courses like Engineering, MBA , Architect, MBBS never get questioned. Being a CA student life gets though. You will be taunted by family , friends and relatives every now and then.

Colleagues will be always questioning about your preparation tenure. But one must always keep in mind that ,"Haters going' to hate".Includes the existence of critics, and the inevitability of critics (for success or otherwise) and that life must go on.

Students must avoid pressure and take it in a positive way only. They should remain focused and always motivated. Patience , faith , confidence and regularity will prove beneficial in your selection.Practice, practice and practice! You will be definitely rewarded.

Which one should I select? Full time MBA or Part time MBA?

Which one should I select? Full time MBA or Part time MBA?

MBA is one of the most demanded courses in the world itself among students. People usually believe that having a MBA Graduation is very much important for a professional career. We cannot generalize MBA Aspirants as people who wants to work with business firms. Any professional may work to complete a graduation in MBA.

Almost all the students who wish to pursue MBA will have the confusion regarding the type of course; that is whether to choose full- time MBA or Part- time one. This article is written mainly to give some suggestions for those confused students, to find a solution to this problem.

Many people think that the difference between full time and part time MBA is only with the duration of timings. But it is not completely correct. Of course, there is a huge timing difference between both. When full time course keep the students packed up for almost about 2 years. A day full class, for about 4 to 5 hours will make the students busy throughout the weekdays itself. And also it will make the students to stay necessarily nearby to the institution.  But when we look to the part time study system, the classes will be mostly in the evenings or week-ends. This usually gives enough time for students to work and earn during week days.

Even though part time MBA is also easier for nearby living students, opportunities like online MBA programs allow people to study from anywhere. Also part time MBA does not have clear cut time duration. Many people take about 3 to 4 years to complete the course.

Differences are also seen in the type of people in selecting full time and part time course. People who want a change in their career will usually opt for a full time course. They find it much more helpful for acquiring new knowledge through internships and extra academic activities. But in the case of a part time MBA, major part of students will come from working category. They look it as an addition to their CV profile, along with experience of working for some years.

When it comes to the cost of MBA studies, full time students can find many chances to get sponsorship and as well as scholarships. Even though part time ones also get chances for sponsors, scholarships are very limited for them to access. Similarly opportunities of connecting with outer people also create drastic difference between full time and part time studies. Full time course provides connections with many people related with the campus. It allows to get attached to the college alumni, scholars, job providers and so on through many ways. In the meantime, part time students find many connections through the works they do along with their studies.

Like all these matters, the course also makes differences in the eligibility for admission. When full time MBA seeks clearing entrances like GMAT and GRE, part time course gives a relaxation for such conditions. Part time course is usually chosen by experienced professionals. So requirements, like clearing entrances are not considered as so important in it.

Selecting the type of study is completely I the hands of the students. Mindset of the student to select in between these two will differ from people to people. It is purely based on their interests as well as on their capabilities. If you are interested to go for a full time study, you can go for it. Similarly you can go through a part time one, if you have the capacity to go along with work and study at a time. Like said above, selection of course and course type is literally on your hands. So always make sure that you make a selection wisely.

NEXT exam to start from 2023

 NEXT exam

All the MBBS students of the final year have to appear for the NEXT exam from the year-2023. Any official announcement is yet to be made by the authorities of India but some messages are been going around on social media regarding the change. The NEXT exam is going to be handled by the National Exit Test (NeXT) board. The decision to replace NEET-PG and FMGE exams will be taken by the above-mentioned board.

The idea of a new exam for granting the license to medical students who have completed their studies was proposed by the National Medical Commission (NMC). A bill was passed in the year-2019 for the proposition of the exam. This exam is set to replace the entrance exam of postgraduate medical studies. No official announcement is received from the authorities confirming the proposition.

For the Indian students practicing medicine, they must complete the assigned tenure of the internship. While the foreign students have to appear for the FMGE exam to earn a grant from the state medical council. The various PG courses like MD, MS, M. Ch, DM that required NEET-PG qualification will now be granted admission through the NEXT exam. The exam aims to develop a quality network of doctors across the country.

Some messages from social media can be quoted as ' with regard to implementation of National Exit Test (NeXT), Chairperson, NMC apprised that broad modality of the NeXT exam had been worked out. The exam would be held in two steps – Step 1 and Step 2. The exam would be held in 2023'.

The NEXT exam is held in high regard because of its measures and rules. Reports are collected from students who were a part of the student organization that took part in a meeting conducted with the board of governors of the Medical Council of India. The exam is going to be conducted through a computer-based mode. The syllabus to be used in the exam will comprise the topics covered during the degree course in India. As of now, it is assumed that the question types will be MCQs.
