MBA in IIM Ahmedabad: modified admission criteria

 MBA in IIM Ahmedabad: modified admission criteria

In the process of MBA admissions for the academic year 2022-24, IIM Ahmedabad now comes up with the new Formula for calculating Academic Rating (AR). The revised rating formula is for Postgraduate Programs in Management (PGPM).

According to the revised formula, the AR will be calculated according to the aspects like – marks obtained in 10th and 12th standards along with experiences of working. In earlier criteria, the ranking was calculated based on marks secured in Graduation. But now, the IIM authorities have decided to take it out of the list. The main reason for this is the impact of COVID 19 in education sectors, where Universities found difficult to conduct exams in a smooth and standard manner. In CAT 2021 also, candidates with less than the percentage of marks given as eligibility was allowed to apply.

As a part of this revising formula, the IIM Ahmadabad has now planned to calculate AR without taking graduation aspect, just to make every candidate uniform in the process. According to the new plan AR Calculation scale will be in 25, along with points pro-rated to 35. The 25 will be given according to the three aspects, stated above (marks in 10th an 12th, and work experience)

Formula of calculating Composite Score

CS= 0.35 (pro-rated AR Score/35) + 0.65 (normalized CAT score)

Pro- rated AR Score

( AR Score/25) * 35

Here, AR Score is calculated by giving 0 points for Bachelor’s Degree
