IIMs start first round of calls, CAT students thrilled

With the CAT Results declared, the Indian Institute of Management has begun reaching out to the most qualified students in the country. Over 60 interview calls were made by three of the institutes to students with the highest percentiles in the country.

On Friday January 11, 2013, IIM – Ahmadabad and Bangalore published their lists of chosen candidates for the interview rounds. 15 students from each tricity have been requested to appear for the interview rounds that will enable them to be enrolled in some of the most prestigious management schools in India.

IIM – Shillong has also called around 30 students on Thursday January 10, 2013. Given the selection criteria for these institutes, students are thrilled to receive calls for interviews. Currently IIM – Shillong has made thirty calls, Bangalore fifteen and Ahmadabad 15, bringing the total to 60. Lovin Mahajan, a student who scored a 99.89 percentile in the exam this year, has received calls from IIM – Ahamadabad, Bangalore and Shillong.

With the IIMs making interview calls, speculation has already begun about the estimated percentiles for enrolment in city-based business schools. For the University Business School, the cutoff this year is expected to be around 85 to 87 percentile for a general category seat. Sources from the University revealed that this year they will be making the cutoffs lower in comparison to the eligibility criteria earlier. In addition to which, the number of forms sold this year were lesser than what was sold last year at the university.
