Only Punjab domicile students eligible for
MBBS admission in the state
Just a day after the
NEET result was declared, Punjab Medical Education Department announced the
change in the admission criteria which left thousands of aspirants in shock.
According to the new notification issued, only those having domicile of Punjab
are eligible for medical colleges in Punjab for MBBS and BDS-2019. The
notification issued earlier issued says that only
those who have passed their Classes 10, 11 and 12 from Punjab were eligible for
the MBBS course from the 2019-20 session which contradicts the new fact. In
2016, some in government service employees had shifted their children to
Punjab so they could study Classes 10 to 12 and then get admission in Punjab
MBBS college. Parents have written to the Chief Minister asking him not to change
the eligibility criteria at this point of time as it is going to affect many of
them adversely. Earlier many students were taking double benefit one of their
own state and others by passing Classes 10 to 12 from Punjab.
