The IIM CAT Exam is conducted by The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad on November 28.The exam was conducted in three slots in a computer-based mode.Timing for  Slot 1 of the exam is from 8:30 am – 10:30 am, for slot 2 is from 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm, and for slot 3 will be held from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm.

Candidates were required to reach the exam centre on their respective reporting times.8:15 am for the morning session, 12:15 pm for the afternoon session and 4:15 pm for the evening session.


Along with the admit card, candidates were also expected to carry any one of the ID proofs like an Aadhaar card, driving license, voter ID, passport, employer ID, college ID, PAN Card, etc. Previous year around 83.5 percent candidates had appeared for the CAT entrance.


This year 2.27 lakh candidates have filled the application form for appearing in CAT entrance.

Attempting 16-19 questions in exam with a good accuracy level will help in scoring 99 percentile.


CAT- Paper analysis and expected percentile-


This year the difficulty level of  CAT was easy to moderate. The CAT question paper has a total of 60 questions distributed in format-VARC- 24, DILR-20, QA-22.

The Quant section was moderately difficult and was tricky to answer . While VARC was moderate, English was a bit lengthy and DILR was the easiest section then the other sections in the CAT.


CAT Slot-1 analysis-


As per the students who took the first slot, the DILR portion was quite lengthy while English In CAT was moderate.In the student's views VARC was easy and DILR & Quant was difficult.VARC had 24 questions and the remaining two sections had 20 & 22 questions respectively. No. of questions reduced  in all sections of slot -1. And the paper was conducted for 2 hours.


CAT Slot-2 analysis-


Listening to the candidates who gave the CAT entrance in Slot-2, says that the VARC section had 2 RCs and some of the VA were easy to moderate. For LRDI  the difficulty level was moderate to tough. QA questions were also tough , they were not straightforward.The slot-2 question paper had 66 questions. Discrete selection of questions he attempted should be done.


CAT Slot-3 analysis-


According to the students who have appeared for CAT entrance slot-3, the overall difficulty level was quite moderate in comparison to that of CAT slot-1 and CAT slot-2. Exam was moderately difficult.The Quant section was tricky but easy. Three marks are rewarded for a correct answer while one mark is deducted for the wrong one.Candidates were provided with one pen and one scribble pad.


Difficulty level-


Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC) had moderate difficulty level.

Ideal score/ Attempt for 99 percentile is 37-39 (15-18).

Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) had  moderate Difficulty level.Ideal score/ Attempt for 99 percentile is 25-28 (9-11).

For Quantitative Ability (QA) the difficulty level was easy and the Ideal score/ Attempt for 99 percentile is 42-44 (16-18).

Overall 99-104 is the expected score to get 99 percentile.


IIM Ahmedabad had introduced variations in eligibility criteria this year-


The eligibility criteria for selection in IIM Ahmedabad has changed this year. Students that have 'promotion/pass' at the place of 'award of marks' certificates in any of the last two years of the bachelor’s programme can select the 'promotion or pass' option in the application form.

CAT answer key for 2021-


The aspirants who have appeared in the CAT 2021 exam, need to refer to the key and solutions to calculate  their probable marks. CAT's unofficial answer keys may be released by coaching institutes which will provide the answers to the memory-based CAT exam questions for each section and slot, such as CAT slot 3. IIM A will release the CAT 2021 final provisional answer key in the last week of December in online mode. Candidates can use the CAT answer key and check to calculate their scores in the entrance. CAT results 2021-


CAT results are scheduled to be released in the second week of January 2022. The CAT scores will be valid till December 31, 2022 only. The score cards will be uploaded on the official website of CAT. Candidates can also be informed by means of SMS individually.
