Mauritius shows interest in Indian technical institutes
New Delhi: Mauritius has evinced interest in the Indian technical institutes including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) and also private institutes for their setting up of campuses in Mauritius.
Mauritius also expressed interest in the proposal for a bilateral student exchange programme mooted by India for the two countries.
This discussion was held between Dr. R. Jeetah, Minister of Tertiary Education, Science Research and Technology of Mauritius and Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal.
Sibal told the Mauritius Minister that his proposal regarding the technical institutes would be considered. He also underlined the need for setting up a mechanism for equivalence of degrees between the two countries, so that smoother educational exchange is possible.
