 MBA degree important for entrepreneurship?


Lenskart chief executive Mr. Peyush Bansal on shark tank season two replied to a question raised by a young boy named Vidit from Indore the young boy asked if MBA is important to establish himself as an entrepreneur. Bansal refuted and gave his example. 


He said that he did not have an MBA degree and had been an entrepreneur for 12 years. Bansal completed his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the McGill University of Canada, then he worked in tech behemoth Microsoft in Seattle he then quit the job and came back to India to work in a couple of startups before launching the eyewear company Lenskart in 2010.


Lenskart became a well-known start-up company backed up by prominent investors. 


Bansal also added that "An MBA degree can be an added advantage but it is not mandatory at all,”. He also said that business schools help students to build their networking skills and also provide students with the business ecosystem and case studies but entrepreneurship requires practical knowledge and needs one to get exposure to practical experience.


In a separate segment, he said that an entrepreneur should have a hunger to succeed, the thought process of the founder, and his ability to voice out his thoughts.
