Top body will help commerce students find the right job
Mumbai: Are you a commerce graduate who is unable to find a job? Don’t worry. There is some help coming for you from the Indian Commerce Association.
The association is holding a talent search examination across the country to help the industry get efficient candidates.
The All India Commerce and Management Talent Search Examination, as it is called, will be held on June 6 at several centres across the country.
TA Shiware, the coordinator for the exams in Maharashtra said the scores of candidates would be sent to the industry.
“Such a move will help bridging the gap between the industry and academia,” said Shiware, also the principal of KPB Hinduja College of Commerce.
“The students will be graded according to the industrial needs. The curriculum is also framed in a different manner, by taking inputs from several courses.”
A workshop at Indore and Hyderabad was conducted to decide on the test format.
All final year undergraduates are eligible for the exams to confirm their compatibility with the industry needs.
The exam will be divided in to two parts. Part-I will include the basic knowledge of commerce and management and will carry 200 marks, whereas with 50 marks, part-II will test the candidates’ business communication and managerial skills.
Nihal Shah, a final year student from a college in Vile Parle, said, “We do not know how this particular exam will help us. Most of the commerce students are forced to take up some post-graduation course to add an extra degree to their profile to get a good job. Today just holding a BCom degree is not enough. You need an MBA or a CA in addition to your graduation. If this exam promises to land us a job immediately after graduation, then it is a welcome change.”
