Group Exercises for getting
admission in MBA
There have
been lots of queries regarding the Group Exercises for MBA admissions, a brief
about it and how to approach while
taking part in Group Exercise. Group Exercise is a segment of the process of
getting admitted to institutes like MICA Ahmedabad, SIBM Pune, SCMHRD Pune etc.
Group
Exercise contributes to the B School panel in analysing a student’s behaviour
and how they socialise with a group and their reactions to various
circumstances that arise while working with the group. It also acts as a psychological
activity and an indicator of how the student acquits oneself in a society and
performs in a team to complete the given task. The evaluation panel primely
focuses on your leadership and team player skills while you are performing in
Group Skills. This also enables the panel to analyse your relationship skills
along with your commitment level to the assigned task as a team.
In group
exercise, you have to perform a defined task as a group, as a team and must
achieve the goals your group has been assigned. You are required to identify
the nature of the problem, the best way to deal with it, use unique methods and
input that prove to be helpful in resolving a problem and achieving the desired
output.
Always
remember that you or the group would not be evaluated on the basis of achieving
the given. You may be judged according to the approach your group took to
achieve the task. It is good if you achieve it but usually 9 out of 10 times
tasks are such that you cannot judge them in the stipulated time.
Approach for Group Exercise for MBA
Admissions
● Try to take down the notes when the
group is instructed about the tasks so that you don’t miss out any nuances of
the set output.
● Divide the task into smaller
activities as soon as the time starts so that the group may work coherently
towards achieving the set output.
● Try to focus on working as one team
which is focused on the goal. Do not unnecessarily showcase yourself in an
overly manner thinking you should get more marks than your team member.
● Showcase participative leadership,
creativity, innovation, strong rationale for steps taken and out of the box
thinking
● Do not underestimate team members,
be receptive to the good ideas put forth by the team members
