CMC Vellore Entrance Exam 2012 for MBBS, BPT, B.Sc Nursing & Other Medical Courses

About the CMC Vellore Entrance Exam 2012
CMC (Christian Medical College) Vellore is associated to the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai and is one of the largest medical business centres in India. It conducts an all-India entrance test (CMC Vellore Common Entrance Test) every year to select students for admission into various under-graduate level medical and para-medical courses offered by it.

The following courses are offered at CMC Vellore:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing)
  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT)
  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (B.Sc. MLT)
  • BPT
  • MBBS
All candidates seeking admission to these courses have to take the CMC Vellore entrance exam followed by a practical test and interview round.

CMC Vellore Entrance Exam 2012 Pattern

The test basically comprises of multiple-choice objective type questions. The duration of the whole exam is 3 hours and 10 minutes. There would be 60 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (2 hours) and 120 questions in General Ability and Current Affairs (1 hour 10 minutes).
All candidates admitted to MBBS/BSc. Nursing/ BSc. MLT/BPT/BOT courses will have to undertake a service obligation, to work in an area of need for a period of two years after completion of training.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for different courses are different. However, there are some common eligibility criteria for all courses offered at CMC Vellore:
Common Eligibility Criteria for All Courses
  • Candidates must have passed the final examination of the 10+2 system (or equivalent)conducted by Tamil Nadu state Board or any other equivalent examination.
  • They should have cleared all the subjects of the HSCE exam.
  • Candidates should be 17 years old at the time of admission.

MBBS
  • In the last 2 years of their 12 years of study candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English.
  • Candidates must have secured 60% marks at 10+2 level in each of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology taken together) and have an aggregate of 140/200 in these subjects, both at qualifying and competitive examinations.

B.Sc. Nursing
  • Candidates must have secured an aggregate of 50% in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology).
  • Only single women candidates are eligible to apply.

BOT/BPT/BSc. MLT
  • Candidates should have passed the qualifying exam with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology).

The CMC Vellore entrance examination will be on 18th May 2012.

How to Apply to CMC Vellore

CMC Vellore 2012 application forms, prospectus & bulletin can be obtained from 21st March 2012 as follows:

1. From select Head Post offices (refer website for the list of post offices) on direct payment of Rs.850/-

2. From the Office of the Registrar on payment of Rs.850/- as a Demand Draft in favour of “CMC Vellore Association” on any scheduled bank, payable at Vellore OR as a challan at any branch of the ICICI bank in India, mentioning FC-CMC-V on the chalan. The DD or original challan can also be sent with a letter requesting for the Prospectus and application form for 2012 to:

3. You may apply online at the CMC website: http://home.cmcvellore.ac.in/admissions/admin.htm on or before 14th April 2012. Admission Bulletin maybe downloaded free from the CMC website. The basic administrative fee is Rs.800/- for online application. The last date for submission of the printed online application form is 16th April 2012.
