Introduction


Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, one of the six IITs set up by an act of parliament, was established in 1958, at Powai, a northern suburb of Mumbai. Today the institute is recognized as one of the centres of academic excellence in the country.

Over the years, there has been dynamic progress at IIT–Mumbai in all academic and research activities, and a parallel improvement in facilities and infrastructure, to keep it on par with the best institutions in the world.

Admission

Appearing for Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) is the first step in the process of seeking admission to the 2-YEAR FULL TIME Post-Graduate Degree Programmes in Management offered by IITs and IISc. Currently IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee are offering such Programmes in Management. JMET is being conducted for admission to these Programmes.

Programs


Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM):
Carefully designed and contemporary curriculum, delivered by a mix of faculty from the best of academics and industry and a work culture that treats every student as a manager from the moment he/she enters the institute, have ensured that our alumni is recognised in business and industry as among the best. The institute designs and undertakes its activities in such a way that students acquire up to date knowledge of the subject, develop managerial skills and cultivate soft skills so crucial to success, in an integrated way. The institute’s curriculum for its Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management is reviewed and improved constantly keeping in view the perceived needs of business in future.

Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA):
The PGDCA course at IMT started in 1986. Today, it serves as a locus of contemporary IT and management education, training, development, research and consultancy. In over two decades of its existence IMT has instilled in its student managers an intellectual and social experience that is unique in its richness of quality, variety, relevance and depth. The aim of IMT is to mould professionals prepared for the rigors of industry. Breaking away from the widely prevalent theoretically capable concept of managers, IMT believes in the making of practical managers trained to face the challenges of the 21st century. Campus placements which are comparable to the best in the country are a reflection of the degree of acceptance gained by IMT in the industry.

Eligibility: The minimum qualification for PGDCA and MCA (Industry Integrated) is Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with mathematics upto 10 + 2 level. Candidate completing their qualifying examination by 15th June 2005 may also apply. They can be admitted provisionally subject to their production of degree by November 2005.

Entrance Test: Selection for the PGDCA and MCA (Industry Integrated) is through written admission test, Group Discussion and Interview. The admission test will be held on Sunday 3rd April 2005.
Final selection is based on the candidate’s performance in admission test, Group Discussion, Interview and academic record/ work experience

Eligibility (for PGDBM)

The minimum qualification for the PGDBM is bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Applicants to the part-time programme must have bachelor’s degree in any discipline with two years experience in management cadre. Engineering graduates/chartered/cost accountants, etc., with one-year experience are also eligible for the part-time programme.
The minimum qualification for PGDCA is bachelor’s degree in any discipline with mathematics upto 10 + 2 level.

CAT Registration Number and Centre Code
IMT uses CAT for short listing the candidates for its programme. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

Placements

The placement is coordinated by the placement committee comprising of members of faculty, placement officer, and selected student managers headed by Chairman placement. The placement activities can broadly be categorized into Pre-Placement Talks, Summer Placement and Final Placement.,Pre-Placement Talks (PPTs).

Executives from various organizations make presentations from October through December, describing career opportunities provided by their companies.
Summer Placement
The PGDBM 1st year student managers are required to undertake summer internship, which constitutes an integral part of the curriculum and is valued for the exposure it provides. Summer Placement Interviews should ideally be scheduled along with the Pre-Placement Talks.
Final Placements
The final Placement is held over a period of four to five days in the first week of January. Companies come to the campus and conduct their recruitment process to select students for final placement.
HELP Higher Entry Level Placements
The following criteria will qualify for lateral entry:
1. Higher Grade.
2. Higher Salary as compared to a fresh MT.
3. Training period truncated by 50% and early confirmation.

This special focus is to provide for the corporate to plan for such lateral entries in advance before they arrive for placements.

Introduction


Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, is one of the six institutes of technology created as centres of excellence for higher training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India, the others being at Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai, Mumbai and Guwahati. Established as college of engineering in 1961, the institute was later declared an institution of national importance under the ‘Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963’ and was renamed ‘Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi’. It was then accorded the status of a deemed university with powers to decide its own academic policy, to conduct its own examinations, and to award its own degrees.
