Introduction

Situated at the outskirts of the historic and culturally rich city of Lucknow, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM–L) was established in 1984 by the Government of India, as a national level school of excellence in management science.

IIM–L's mission is to be a global, socially conscious and integrated school of management, contributing towards management development, both in India and abroad. Towards this, IIM–L undertakes a diverse range of academic activities and interventions aimed at creation, dissemination, and application of management knowledge and practices. IIM–L is also entering into collaborative arrangements with leading business schools and research centres in India, Europe, Canada, South and Southeast Asia.

The achievement of the alumni who hold leading positions both in industry and academics is a testimony to the institute's focus of nurturing individual actualization and the pursuit of excellence.
In 2001, the 15th batch of 180 bright young students will be ready to embark on a meaningful management career, ready to accept the mantle of leaders of tomorrow and lead their respective organizations to new heights of glory.

Programs

PGP (Post Graduate Program)

"Good practice flows from strong theory" - this is the credo of the Post Graduate Program (PGP) at IIM Lucknow. The PGP is designed to develop professional managers with the strong conceptual fundamentals and skills required to manage businesses of the future, while giving them the vision to determine what the future will be.

PGP-ABM (Post-Graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management)

The two-year Post Graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management is a full –time residential course designed with the specific objective of developing agribusiness leaders, entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurs with a vision, competence and appropriate attitude for promoting/ growing agribusiness and agro-based enterprises with a strong international orientation.



Innovative Features of the Programme

This innovative programme has the following features:
– A significant number of compulsory foundation courses in the functional areas of management in the first year blended with agricultural/ rural context specific courses in the second year.
– Significant field exposure to give hands-on experience and action orientation.
The Student Exchange Program:
The class of 2005 has 32 students going across to prestigious international institutions as part of the programme. The institutions that will be hosting IIM-L students as part of this initiative include ESSEC, Paris; ESCP-EAP, Paris; ESADE, Barcelona; McMaster University, Ontario; Jonkoping International Business School, Sweden; Leipzig Graduate School of Business, Germany; Universite Catholique de Louvain, Belgium; Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, REIMS Management School, France, Universite Jean Moulin, Lyon, France, Graduate School of Management Universite Robert Schuman, France, European Business School, Germany, University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, Toulouse Business School, France.

Areas of placement

Marketing 23 per cent, IT 33 per cent, finance 33 per cent, others 11 per cent

The Eligibility criteria and the Admission process for the above-mentioned two programs are same as for all IIMs.
