Introduction


An Institute founded 35 years ago, JBIMS is considered to be unique in management education as it is firmly rooted in the local soil and capable of articulating the Indian ethos.In the contemporary era, where Globalization and Liberalization are the buzz words, the Institute has, without disturbing the said roots ordered itself to meet the emerging challenges, sentiments and opportunities that are going to present themselves on account of the new economic order.

Programs

MMS (Masters in Management Studies)
The full time MMS course is of 2 years duration consisting of four academic semesters and is open to candidates who have taken a Bachelors’ degree in any faculty of Mumbai University or of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto. Admissions are limited to a carefully selected group of about 120 participants

Marketing, finance, operations, personnel and systems management

Eligibility


A candidate who has either passed with minimum 50% of marks in the aggregate (45% in case of candidates domiciled in Maharashtra and belonging to the Reserved Categories) or appeared at the Final Year Examination of a post 10 + 2 course of minimum three years duration leading to an award of a Bachelor’s Degree, in any discipline of a Statutory University in India (so recognized by the Association of Indian Universities) or has passed with minimum 50% of marks in the aggregate (45% in case of candidates domiciled in Maharashtra and belonging to the Reserved Categories ) or appeared at an examination considered equivalent thereto would be treated as eligible for Common Entrance Test

Admissions

All candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria have to undergo a 3-tier selection procedure consisting of a Common Entrance Test (CET), a Group Discussion (GD) and a Personal Interview (PI).

The CET is a multiple-choice objective test evaluating the aptitude in verbal ability, quantitative aptitude, logic, visual reasoning, reading comprehension and data interpretation.

This test is then followed by a GD and PI which carry a significant role in the entire selection process.

Placements

Summers 2004 at Bajaj was a hectic affair with more than 60 companies participating in the process this year. The summer placement process was held in the month of October and was spread out over three days with companies being given slots on the basis of the preference of the students. The students were thrown into the maelstrom on Day One this year with almost 30 companies making it to the coveted slots. The organizations reciprocated in kind by recruiting sixty students within 10 hours.
Companies that chose to participate this year included regulars like HLL, Colgate-Palmolive, ITC, Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, ICICI Bank, Cadbury, Gillette, Castrol and Marico. New visitors and previous recruiters who made a welcome return to campus included Coke, GSK, N M Rothschild, The GE Group, Frito-Lays, Morgan Stanley, L’Oreal and Ernst & Young. The year also saw heavy participation from the IT majors like TCS, Patni and Wipro.

The Banking and Financial Services sector picked up the bulk of students this season with a welcome resurgence in FMCG placements as well. Stipends offered this year averaged at Rs.25000 for the duration of the project with entry-level compensation of around Rs.16000 for the duration of the project. The highest stipend offered was Rs.50000 for the duration of the project
