Narsee Monjee Institute of Management studies (NMIMS)- MUMBAI

Narsee Monjee Institute of Management studies (NMIMS)- MUMBAI

Introduction

The year 1981 saw the opening up of the management education system in Mumbai with the decision of the University of Bombay to meet the burgeoning demand for young managers by allowing new management institutes to be set up. This broke the 15-year-old monopoly of the university's own institution, JBIMS, as the sole provider of management courses in Mumbai.

One of the first educational trusts in the industrial and commercial capital of India to take advantage of this new opportunity to serve the world of business was Shri Vile Parley Kelavani Mandal (SVPKM).

With the string of gems of institutions in various disciplines under its belt, the SVPKM set up in 1981, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) named after the intrepid entrepreneur Late Shri Narsee Monjee whose life was a saga of struggle against heavy odds in setting up a first class indigenous enterprise.
