Best of 2 GCET scores for students
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has declared the dates for the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET) for the academic year 2010-11.
GCET is an examination for the MBA and MCA courses run by various educational institutes affiliated to the GTU. Candidates appearing for the examination this year will have a choice of giving the test twice. The test will be taken during June 28 to July 1 and July 5 to 8. The best score of the students will be considered for merit.
Talking about the GCET, NN Bhuptani, the registrar at GTU said, "This year students will get to choose the date, time and examination centre for GCET. During the on-line registration, students will be allotted a choice on first come first served basis.
As the slots get filled up, the options will automatically decrease. Besides, students will have another chance to improve their scores in a second examination, and the better of the two scores will be considered for the merit list. "
On-line registration process will commence from May 27 and the last date for registration is June 8.
Hall tickets can be downloaded from the GTU website on June 18. The test will be conducted at 20 different centres across the state. The merit list will be displayed on the GTU website on July 13. "There will be three time slots on each examination day and 6,000 students can appear per day, that is, 2,000 students can give the computer based test in a single time slot. Each examination center has the capacity of 50 to 300 computers," Bhuptani informed.
The test duration will be of 100 minutes and there will be 100 multiple choice questions with negative marks for each incorrect answer. There will be questions on analytical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, English language skills and general knowledge.
The test duration for the students appearing for MBA and MCA examinations will be 96 minutes and there will be 120 multiple
