CMAT is an all-India entrance examination conducted by the AICTE to
aid different business schools (B-schools) and management institutes in
India to grant admissions to candidates in various management programs
that are approved by AICTE. CMAT is conducted twice in a year in the
months of September as well as February to grant admissions for one
academic session.
CMAT scores are
used by around 11 Indian states to grant admissions for Master of
Business Administration (MBA) programs under the government quota in
those states. A majority of B-schools in India are expected to grant
admissions into their management programs on the basis of the
candidates’ CMAT February 2014-15 scores.
Several private universities grant admission on the basis of CMAT
scores instead of the individual state-conducted Post Graduate Common
Entrance Test (PGCET). Some of such institutes include ITM University in
Gurgaon, VIT University in Vellore, Alliance School of Business
(Alliance University) in Bangalore, Jaipuria Institute of Management in
Noida, IPE in Hyderabad, etc.
As per AICTE’s notification, candidates who appeared in first test of CMAT held in September, 2013 can also appear for the second test to be held in February, 2014. The best out of the two scores will be taken into consideration to grant admission. The previous CMAT was held from Thursday, September 26 toMonday, September 30, 2013, the Results of which were issued on Sunday, October 20, 2013.
