CMAT 2012: Day 1 Analysis

The first single national level entrance test CMAT (Common Management Aptitude Test) conducted by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) commenced on Monday, February 20, 2012. Nearly 9000 students participated in the test on Day 1. The day one went off well without any glitches as no complaints were reported from any exam centers till last evening.

Sources from AICTE revealed that nearly 12.9% out of the total registered students appeared for the test on day 1 of CMAT exam. Both morning and the afternoon sessions went on smoothly without any technical problem. Majority of students have registered to take the test on weekend’s i.e February 25 and 26, 2012.

The software for the computer based test was designed by Aptech Ltd. The online test will be held at 68 centers in 61 major cities of the country.

Minglebox talked to a few CMAT test takers. Most of the test takers seemed happy and relaxed after the test. Gaurav Mishra, a CMAT aspirant from Maharashtra quoted – “CMAT was quite easy for me. It was very similar to MHCET. “

Rahul Bassi, a DU student claimed that CMAT was almost an extension of MAT and quite easy although the general knowledge section was a little tough for him.

The first day of CMAT exam proved to be a cakewalk for both the students as well as the organizers with 83% attendance across India. After withstanding strong protests from B-schools against conducting CMAT, AICTE right now is basking in glory of conducting a glitch-free CMAT exam on the first day.

More AICTE approved institutes are expected to accept CMAT from next year onwards. The council has also decided to conduct CMAT twice a year from 2013 onwards to make it more flexible for the students.
