National Seminar and Exhibition on Management of MSMEs, an opportunity to learn new skills

Every year, institute organizes a Seminar on a theme of relevance and importance to the industry, students and teaching fraternity. This year the theme of seminar is ‘Management of MSMEs’ which is scheduled on Saturday, 11th February, 2012 at Thorale Bajirao Peshwe Sabhagruha in Thane Campus. In the past, eminent speakers like Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy, Mr. Ajay Piramal, Mr. Nitin Paranjape, Mr. Ashwin Dani, Mr. S. P. Agarwal, Mr. Rajani Patel have visited the institute and addressed industry delegates, our students and teachers.

MSME Seminar Theme: MSMEs play a vital role in the growth of the country. They contribute 40% of gross industrial value added in Indian economy. This sector generates largest employment opportunities in the country other than agriculture. This small survey has indicated that although the Government has formed MSME Ministry and is making every effort to support MSMEs, the members are not fully aware of these facilities or there are lots of hurdles in availing them.

MSME Seminar objective: Aim of seminar is to address Financial, Marketing, IT and Human Resources issues faced by MSME industries in Thane-New Bombay belt (supported by TBIA); Trans Thane Creek-TTC (supported by SSEA); Thane Manufacturers Association, TMA (Wagle Estate); Thane Small Scale Industries Association, TSSIA (Thane); Kalyan-Dombivali (KAMA) MIDC, Ambernath and Badlapur MIDC, Vasai and Palghar MIDCs and to bring together academia, managers, industry researchers & MSME personnel to exchange and share their experiences with overall objective of improvement for MSMEs. Eminent speakers from various sectors of Government and Industry will address seminar participants on topics such as 1) Government Support to MSMEs 2) Business Incubation and Monitoring 3) Marketing Issues of MSMEs 4) Blue Ocean Strategy for MSMEs 5) Use of ICT by MSMEs 6) Financial Issues 7) Talent Management 8) How to grow, not to just survive! this seminar.

Research Volume VII (ISSN No. 0976-2159): Research Monograph on the subject has been published in April 2011. A special publication of Research Volume VII on the subject containing keynote address, contributed papers and presentations will be published in April 2012.

Research Project of MSMES 2012: Subsequent to the conclusion of the seminar and based on the feedback, the institute proposes to conduct a comprehensive survey of management practices of MSMEs in the select areas with funding support from professional bodies like AIMA, AICTE or MSME Associations

A glimpse about Dr. V. N. Bedekar Institute of Management Studies (DR VN BRIMS): The Management Institute established in 1973 was then named as Department of Management Studies. Since inception in 2005-06 and subsequent recognition by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the institute has grown by leaps and bounds.
