Now pay 7% more as fee to get a degree from IIM-A

IIM-A is working hard to manage its expenditures by generating some surplus revenue by marketing its inventory of case-study material and research to other B-Schools in the country and across the world. The institute is using other ways to raise funds from corporate houses to meet its expenses. IIM-A Society Board will meet corporate houses to get funds and proposed increase in the placement fees, but the final decision is on hold.

The institute increased the fee of its PGP programme by 7%. In last three years the institute has increased the fee three times ranging from 9.6% to 7%. It justified its step by saying that the expenditures for the general operation and other raised due to inflation. It is forced to hike the fee because after the implementation of 6th Pay Commission recommendations the institute is bearing extra burden of increased salaries of the employees. The economy is making the education for management students more costly year-by-year.

Till year 2009-2010, the two year Post Graduate Programme would have cost a student somewhere around 12.38 lakh, but now to get this degree students are suppose to pay Rs. 15.50 lakh.
