8 male engineer candidates score 100 percentile in CAT 2013

A total of eight candidates, all of whom are male and engineers, have acquired scores of 100 percentile in the Common Admission Test 2013 (CAT 2013), as per officials of the Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore). Out of the eight toppers from engineering background, six have Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) degrees and two have Master of Technology (M Tech) degrees. Three of the candidates possess professional experience of around 12 to 24 months in the sectors of banking services, automobile and Information Technology (IT). The Results of CAT 2013 were declared on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. IIM Indore was the convener of CAT 2013.
The highest number (city-wise) of three toppers is from Mumbai. One topper each is from the cities of Hyderabad and New Delhi. State-wise, the highest number of four toppers is from Andhra Pradesh and the candidates belong to the cities of Secunderabad, Samalkot, Hyderabad and Vijayawada.
Ten candidates have acquired scores of 99.99 percentile, out of whom there is a woman candidate. The highest position acquired by a woman candidate is the 18th rank.
As per IIM Indore officials, around 1.74 lakh candidates took the CAT 2013 examinations, out of which around 50,000 were female candidates. Several students had claimed that the Data Interpretation (DI) section on Day 10 of CAT 2013, held on Monday, October 28, 2013, had an incomplete question. The ratio data in the question with tables was not provided, which was very important to solve the question correctly. Remedial measures were taken to implement fair scores for all students, the officials added.
CAT 2013 was conducted over a 20 day period from Wednesday, October 16 to Monday, November 11, 2013 in 40 cities in India. Students can access the CAT 2013 Results online at http://www.cat2013.iimidr.ac.in. Names of candidates who are shortlisted for interviews will be put up on the CAT website. To access Results online, candidates need to enter their CAT registration number and e-mail address. They need to retain a printout of the Results. CAT 2013 Results will be accessible online till Wednesday, December 31, 2014.
CAT aptitude test is one of the most prestigious examinations in India for admission into the IIMs as well as other premier management institutes. 115 more seats have been added in 2013 across the 13 IIMs. The total number of seats in all the IIMs is 3, 335 at present.
