Gujarat University to launch mobile directory
Ahmedabad: In what is being claimed to be the first initiative of its kind in the country, Gujarat University will launch a mobile directory on Sunday. After the launch of the directory all details about the university will be available on mobile phones. Governor Kamala Beniwal will inaugurate the mobile directory.
Parimal Trivedi, vice-chancellor of the university said, "This is a unique initiative. Gujarat University was working on this project for the last one year. This mobile directory will be a new way for the students to communicate with the university as well as the colleges.
It will have all the details about the university and affiliated colleges. The directory will be having names, addresses and contact details of college principals. Students can access these details on their mobile phone."
This facility will not be limited just to students, any citizen can use it. "Anybody can use this directory, it will be like a gift to all the citizens. The directory has a bunch of facilities that can be useful for getting information about Gujarat University. Users can SMS the college principals and university officials through this mobile directory. They can ask their queries and get replies through SMS.
Now nobody would have to keep heavy diaries containing phone numbers of Gujarat University and college principals."
Gujarat University has developed this mobile directory in association with a private firm Smileindia Knowledge Services.
The vice-chancellor has organised a grand launching ceremony at his official residence on Sunday evening.
