IIM-A unfolds PGPX programme for 2010-11


IIM-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) welcome eighty-six students to the campus to join the fifth batch of Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPX) 2010-11 , yesterday. The students, who have joined the one-year programme, come from diverse backgrounds such as financial services, telecom, IT, manufacturing, healthcare and public sector.
While IT and IT servicesindustry remains the dominant sector in the batch, the group includes students with a varied background too. There are four students who have got degrees from the healthcare sector, including a surgeon plus a bunch of chartered accountants, company secretaries, holders of nautical science, hotel management and other degrees/diplomas, who have already done their MBA from other institutes.


While there were only two female students in the entire batch last year, the number has increased to six this year.

This year, the average GMAT score of the batch of students is 712 which has dropped from that of last year. Other than the increase in the total number of students by six this year, other elements of the batch remain almost the same as that of last year.
The average age of the students is 34 years while they already have an average total work experience of 10 years with an average international work experience of above four years. During the event, the students were briefed about the programme structure and various courses offered in different areas during the extended inaugural session.
