RTU students want exams on time

RTU students want exams on time

JAIPUR: Students from various colleges affiliated to Rajasthan Technical University submitted a memorandum to technical education minister Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya and Vipin Chandra, principal secretary, technical education, seeking their intervention for conducting examinations on time.

As per UGC guidelines, MBA should be completed in four semesters in two years. Every semester is of six months with compulsory teaching of 90 days. The students say that in 2009-10 session, the first semester exam was conducted in January 2010 — a month ahead of schedule. Ideally, the second semester exam date should be in August. However, the university, ignoring rules, announced the second semester exam date within four months — in June 2010. The students complained they sometimes have to wait for the results more then six months.

They have demanded their exams should be conducted as per the UGC guidelines. Otherwise they would suffer during placements. “It’s terrible to see that RTU is openly flouting the norms. Now we are expecting action from the technical department to monitor and regulate as per the UGC guidelines,” said Mangilal Gujjar, a student.
