CET 2010: Find out all you can about courses and colleges
Bangalore: The counselling process for candidates eligible for admission to courses in medicine and dentistry after the Common Entrance Test (CET) 2010 will kick off on June 10. Counselling for engineering courses will begin on June 18.
Ahead of the counselling process, educationists have suggested that candidates conduct proper research before making their choice.
Homework and prior research are key to avoid any kind of heart burn later, they opine. “A student should be armed with information. Students should check about the infrastructure available at the college, and the results of previous batches.
Any placement facilities available should also be checked. It would be good to get in touch with students who have studied in those colleges and have their opinion too,” said MS Thimmappa, noted educationist.
It’s better to decide on the basis of the subject of your choice, rather than go with the prestige of the college, say educationists.
“Students should have enough information about the college of their choice and their favourite subject. For toppers, generally, it is a smooth run, but others should stick to their choice of subject, rather than getting carried away by the popularity of a college.
At the end of the day, performance of a student matters, rather than from which institute she has completed her course,” said NR Shetty, former vice-chancellor of Bangalore University.
On Thursday, students holding ranks 1-1500 will appear for counselling. The first session will begin at 9 am. The counselling process is to be conducted in four sessions. Candidates have to report at the counselling centres an hour before the process starts.
The KEA office in Bangalore, as well as centres in Shimoga, Mangalore, Hubli, and Gulbarga, will serve as counselling centres.
However, Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates will have to attend the seat selection only at the counselling centre in Bangalore. Prospective candidates have already started flocking to the centre in Malleswaram.
