Introduction

The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode was set up by the Government of India in collaboration with the State Government of Kerala as the 5th Indian institute of Management. Being a part of IIM family of institutions, which have earned worldwide reputation for academic excellence, the Institute strives hard for maintaining international standards in all of its academic activity.
The Institute is located at Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode, (also known as Calicut) in the State of Kerala, the God's own Land. The Institute is aiming to emerge as an internationally reckoned fully integrated management institute of higher learning. It conducts the full range of academic activities in the field of management education covering research, teaching, and training, consulting and intellectual infrastructure development to help improve the management systems in the country.

Programs

PGP

‘The Post-graduate Programme in Management is a flagship educational programme preparing the young graduates for senior level positions in industry and other sections. The programme is of two years duration. In the first year, the students undergo 58 credit foundation courses in various functional areas, followed by 8-10 weeks of summer training in business and industrial organizations.
The second year comprises two foundation courses of 3 minimums of 45 credit elective courses. Some of courses are of 2 credits (20 class contact hours) and others of 3 credit (30 class contact hours). The students are encouraged to have 2 areas of specializations. For specialization a student has to take a credit each and a minimum of 5 electives (amounting to 15 credits) in the area concerned. Some students spend one term to take courses in a partner foreign institution.

MDP

Management Development Programme (MDP) is targeted at developing the managerial skills of the people from various sector of the industry. The duration of each course ranges from a week to a fortnight. They are held throughout the year.
Brochure and Nomination Form for different programs will be available two months before the respective due dates.

The Eligibility criteria and the Admission process for the above-mentioned two programs are same as for all IIMs.

The highlight of Placements 2005 was the debut of foreign recruiter Capital One, putting IIMK firmly on the international recruiter map. The US financial services giant made an offer of $85,000 (Rs.37 lakhs) to Gaurav Agarwal, who will be joining the firm in the USA, as a Senior Business Analyst in October.

The highest Indian salary came from the consulting sector – an offer of Rs. 10.15 lakhs from Deloitte Consulting. The average Indian salary was Rs. 7.3 lakhs, (a 15% increase over last year) and with 194 job offers for 120 students, students had an excellent choice of top jobs across sectors, with a number of companies having to go empty-handed, as there were no available students.
The largest recruiter at Placements 2005 was IBM, which made 17 offers for roles in business consulting, SAPS consulting, sales and marketing and human resources.
