Introduction

International Management Institute (IMI) was established in 1981, as an autonomous non-profit educational society under the Societies Registration Act 1860 in collaboration with International Management Institute, Geneva to meet the widely felt need for internationally oriented management education/ training for managers at all levels in industry, government and public systems.

IMI India is India’s first corporate-sponsored management school. With years of collaboration from IMI Geneva (currently IMD Lausanne), the McGill University of Canada, Manchester Business School, U.K. and with strong support from Indian industry, this institute has grown into one of the most prestigious schools of management today. Both industry and the academician have already shown appreciation of the quality of IMI students.

Eligibility for PGP program

Eligibility test: CAT
A Bachelor's degree in any discipline under 10 + 2+ 3 system as recognized by AIU. Candidates appearing in the final year of their bachelor's degree are also eligible, provided they complete all formalities of their examination before June 30, 2006 and furnish the proof of having met the minimum eligibility criteria by September 30, 2006.

Post Graduate Programme in International Management (PGPIM 2005-2006)

An 11-month transformational programme for enabling executives with some work experience to take up globally-oriented management positions

The course is designed, monitored and continually upgraded by an Advisory Council comprising business leaders, management experts as well as officers from governmental and international agencies.

The curriculum develops international perspectives on business competitiveness so executives are prepared for roles as globally-oriented managers. It also develops skills in working with international teams and networks.

International exposure through a two-week study in a leading business school in North America, East Asia or Europe as well as one week of visits to companies, business institutions and international agencies as a part of learning to do business in other countries.

Eligibility for PGPIM

Graduates in the 10+2+3 system in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. Post-degree work experience of 3 years or more.
Good command over written and spoken English

Admission

Candidates will be required to take a written test administered by IMI to assess knowledge of mathematics and English. This will be followed by an interview to assess suitability for benefiting from the course. International students under Government of India scholarship programs will be interviewed at the Indian Embassy in their country.

All in all, with 45 companies visiting the IMI campus for placements, the students had a wide array of companies and industry segments to choose from.
Amongst the companies that visited IMI this year for placements, there were: Citibank, HDFC, ICICI, Indus Ind (banking); Oracle, TCS, HCL Comnet (technology); CARE (credit rating agency); McKinsey KC, AT Kearney (research); Ranbaxy, Torrent (pharma); MetLife, Iffco Tokio (insurance); DCM Sriram Consolidated Ltd., JK group (industrial products); ACNielsen ORG-MARG, IMRB (market research); Radio Mirchi, ABP (media); Indiabulls, CitiFinancial (financial services); CEAT, CB Richard Ellis, E-value serve, PFC and Maruti.
The most popular sector for the students at IMI this year was, undoubtedly, banking - with the top banks like Citibank, HDFC, ICICI; picking up, in all, 32 students. The star recruiter at IMI this year was Citigroup, which recruited 12 people, even as HDFC and ICICI picked up 7 students each.
