Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) - BHOPAL
Introduction
The Indian Institute of Forest Management is a sectoral management institute, which constantly endeavors to evolve knowledge useful for the managers in the area of Forest, Environment and Natural Resources Management and allied sectors. It disseminates such knowledge in ways that promote its application by individuals and organizations.
Programs
PGDFM
The two-year Post Graduate Programme leading to the award of the Post-Graduate Diploma in Forestry Management (PFM) was launched in July 1988. The Crème de la crème of students with diverse academic backgrounds are groomed to meet the managerial requirements of the corporate and development sectors. The structure of the programme has been designed to ensure that the skills developed are put to application during the course itself. The programme is designed to produce young managers who are sensitive to the natural and social environment.
Admission
The entrance to the PFM programme is through a stiff three stage selection process. The first stage involves appearing for the CAT examination conducted by the IIM's. Students shortlisted through the CAT examination are called for group discussion and interview at IIFM.
Eligibility
Applicants should have (a) at least a three-years bachelor's degree in any discipline or an equivalent qualification, recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as eligible for post-graduate studies.
Candidates appearing for the final Degree examination are also eligible to apply, provided they complete the requirements of their graduate examination and expected to fulfill the eligibility criteria as set by IIFM.
Reservation
15% and 7.5% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the SC and the ST, respectively, provided they meet the minimum selection criteria as specified by IIFM. 3% seats are reserved for physically disabled persons, as per Govt. of India rules.
IIFM is currently celebrating 14 years of excellence of the PFM programme during which IIFM has given 353 outstanding green managers to India and the world
