Introduction

The Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS) was started as extension department of St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi in 1955 with the objective of training young graduates for Social Work, Personnel Management, Business Management and Rural Management. In 1973 the Institute was registered as a separate educational society under the Society Act and in 1978 it moved to its own campus. Over the years XISS has developed its own distinct identity, and intends to train ‘Professionals with a Difference’, i.e. professionals who are attuned to the deeper aspirations of the common people for justice, who see their training as a preparation for true service in society and who believe that their own human growth and happiness is intrinsically linked with development.

Eligibility

Admissions to the courses are open to Graduates who have completed the three years degree course. Students appearing in the final University examinations can also apply.

Admission Procedure

Candidate desirous of seeking admission have to appear either in XAT (XLRI Admission Test) conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur to be held on 8th January 2006 or in MAT (Management Aptitude Test) conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi on 4th December 2005 and 5th February 2006. Candidates can appear for one or two or in all three examinations. The best score will be considered.
Based on the results of XAT or MAT, candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Interview to be held at XISS in the month of March-May 2006.

Notification:

After applying for XAT/MAT common test candidates will also have to apply separately for the Application Form of XISS. The XISS Application Form & Prospectus can be obtained from the Institute's office on payment of Rs. 550/- in cash or by Demand Draft of Rs 600/- in favour of "Xavier Institute of Social Service" Payable at Ranchi
Last date for submitting the XISS Application form along with a photocopy of filled in MAT Form or the XAT candidate ID at XISS.
