ABOUT THE COLLEGE

Vivekanand Institute of Professional Studies is a private college in Pitampura, New Delhi. The college is recognized by Bar Council of India and was established in the year 2000. It is in affiliation to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University approved by AICTE and Accredited Grade ‘A’ by NAAC. This institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate education in the field of Law, Business, Media and Information Technology in 7 and 2 courses respectively.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The Bachelor’s in Journalism and Mass Communication BJMC is 3 years (6 semesters) undergraduate programme which combines the rigorous of academic excellence and practical training for large number of students who will take up challenging jobs in the fast growing and diverse media industry. During the course the students cover various subjects such as Writing for Media, Print Journalism, Media Laws and Ethics, Application of Computer in Media, Advertising, Global Media etc.

OBJECTIVE

The objective of this course is to enhance skills of the students in the field of media industry. It aims to cover the bedrock values of excellence and professional practices by exposing the students to recent research and development around the globe.

The BA(JMC) graduates has a lot of employment opportunities as a Reporter, Photojournalist, Editor, Journalist and Screenwriter in Publishing House, Broadcasting, Newspapers, E-Magazines, Advertising Agencies, Press Information etc.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A candidate eligible for admission to the 3-year BJMC undergraduate degree course must have passed the Intermediate Examination (10+2) with English as a core/elective/functional subject or any other equivalent examination.

The aggregate of best of four subjects including English and compulsory subject(s), if any will be taken as 50% aggregate marks in class 12^th.

 

ADMISSION PROCESS

·       The candidates must apply through GGSIPU CET for the admission to any of the courses offered by VIPS.

·       The candidates who meet the minimum eligibility criteria is then required to attend the counselling session for further screening process.

·       The candidates who qualify IPU CET are only eligible for the admission in the college.

 

VIPS RESERVATION

VIPS provides reservation to all eligible candidates based on the merit secured in IPU CET. Seats are reserved as per the norms set by the Government of India and are as follows:

·       Among the total number of seats, the 85% seats are reserved for the Delhi Region Candidates i.e., those who have passed their qualifying examination from any school/institute in Delhi NCR.

·       Other 15% seats are reserved for the Outside Delhi Region students i.e., those who have passed their qualifying examination from any school/institute outside Delhi.

The objective of the placement cell of VSJMC (Vivekanand School of Journalism and Mass Communication) is to provide the best career opportunities to the students in the field of journalism and mass education. The Placement Cell takes up the task of ensuring that the students get proper exposure through rigorous training and internships. The cell is responsible to discover the interests and skills of the students and takes the responsibility of keeping the students updated about the news agencies and event management companies visiting in the college.
