IIMA mulling fee hike again this year
Ahmedabad: With inflation rising in the country, it looks inevitable that the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad will once again increase its tuition fees for its various courses this year.
The fees for the two-year flagship course of the institute, PGP, might once again be increased this year from the current figure of Rs12.5 lakh.
The agenda for discussing the fees of the programmes in the institute was deliberated at a governing council meeting of the institute on Saturday. Talking about the the meeting and the possibility of the fees being increased this year again, a highly placed official who did not want to be named said, "There was agreement in the board meeting that the institute's fees will always increase with inflation. Data has also been presented by the finance committee of the institute to the board of governors."
"There will be some increase in the fees of the courses of the institute to meet the existing inflationary costs. However, we are discussing on the cost structure and considering how low we can keep it. The director will announce it very soon," said the official.
The tuition fee of IIMA has been increasing for the past five years or so. Last year the fee for the two-year PGP programme was increased from Rs11.5lakh to Rs12.5 lakh.
